Gender-free marriage certificate from Cambridge, MA
A fantastic bit of gender neutral precedent from City of Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA!
As a resident (for another few days, at least) of Massachusetts, the state allows me to be married to a person of any gender. They’ve almost even designed marriage certificate/licences that don’t bother me. There is a problem, though: the marriage certificate does ask for each party’s sex at the very bottom of the form. As a non-binary-gendered trans person, this doesn’t sit very well with me.
I recently got married. About two months ago I was in Cambridge City Hall filling out our forms with my then-fiancée, and I had a conversation with the clerk that went something like this:
…
Eventually they agreed to let the tickybox be, and they’d call the state office to ask what to do, given my preference that the box remain unchecked. Well, a couple days later, my fiancée gets a call from them that they won’t force me to state a gender!
I didn’t want to post this publicly until my marriage certificate was well and properly registered with the state, for fear they’d take it away, but take a look

Congratulations to violet and their new wife and kudos to the Massachusetts state office for not forcing violet to assign themself a gender they do not hold!
Huzzah! :D
I reject your gender binary, and replace it with my own interpretation.
Silver Ballpoint Pen Can Draw Functional Electronic Circuits on Paper
First mightier than the sword, now mightier than the laser.
Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign made a new type of liquid metal ink that stays liquid in a pen, but dries after being applied to paper, wood or another surface. The liquid consists of silver nanoparticles that were reduced in size using acid, and then modified with cellulose so the fluid has a more inky viscosity.Draw a line, and when it dries, the result is a silver wire that can conduct electricity. Researchers built an LED display with their school’s initials, UIUC, and the lovely sketch below depicting a house and trees. The ink serves as wiring for the LED mounted on the roof of the house, and it’s powered by a five-volt battery connected to the edge of the painting, according to a UI press release…
